VCF 9 upgrade architecture and roadmap: importing three standalone vSphere 7/8 environments into VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 as upgraded workload domains, and building new, dedicated workload domains to bring VMware vSphere Kubernetes Service (VKS) 3.7 into production, with minimal workload disruption, simplified routing and load-balancer integration, and standardized automated operations.
Activating a vSphere Supervisor with the NSX Classic Model: how the Workload Network NAT mode (Enabled vs. Disabled) — set at Supervisor activation and per-namespace via Override network — changes traffic flow, the NAT table, and routing, validated in a lab.
Deploy Prometheus and Telegraf on a VKS guest cluster to push metrics to VCF Operations via the Supervisor Management Proxy, enabling cluster, node, pod, and container monitoring.
Deploy and configure Fluent Bit on a VKS guest cluster to forward container logs, systemd daemon logs, API audit logs, and Linux auth logs to VCF Operations for Logs.
Mirror VMware Cloud Foundation CLI plugins and VKS Standard Packages to a local Harbor registry for air-gapped Kubernetes deployments.
Configure VMware Supervisor Cluster log forwarding to VCF Operations for Logs using the built-in Fluent Bit DaemonSet in the vmware-system-logging namespace.
Deploy a VKS guest cluster with Cilium 1.19.1 as the CNI, with Hubble UI and eBPF-based networking on vSphere Supervisor.
